El Chorro
A beautiful country area just 35 minutes from Malaga city and airport and the Costa del Sol. El Chorro is famous for it's impossibly high, narrow, gorge, the limestone "Desfiladero de los Gaitanes" which begins at the "Garganta del Chorro". There is a path, the "Camino del Rey" (Kings path) which clings to it's side but this is largely closed simply because it is so dangerous! In the past though it got the chance to star alongside Frank Sinatra in the film "Von Ryan's Express". You cross a railway bridge to get to it and can pass the spot where Sinatra died of his wounds in the final scene!
The area is extremely popular with rock climbers who come from far and wide to answer the challenge of the gorge and is ideal for many other out door activity holiday businesses including walking, horse trekking and mountain biking.
There is a railway station with regular trains to Malaga at El Chorro and a number of restarants have grown up around it. There remains however a shortgage of accommodation in the area.
Climbers and so on represent a brilliant opportunity for anyone looking at doing B&B or renting their property because they come for most of the year except high season! They therefore provide an excellent basis for a rental business and ensure high year round occupancy.
The scenery of the area is stunning and being a natural park is likely to remain so. This means that homes in the area are scarce and if you see something you like don't hang about!
